cymatic · vibration · sound · diffraction · reflection · surface · cardboard · clay · vacuum form · panel · acoustic manipulation

Situated on Mahee Island in close proximity to Nerdrum Monastery, Claymatic rests semi-submerged in the lough, enabling  water to have a strong  relationship with the structure. Tidal fluctuations will slowly alter the building with high and low tides transforming the acoustics of the structure.

Inside outside will be used in the expression of the facade system which will consist of a series of rotating concave/convex panels that enable users to alter reverberations and apertures. The building will serve a range of contemplations and draw on ecclesiastical structures within the immediate area of interest and further across the Lough.

Materials to be local and highly contextual, drawing on local industry. Cymatics will be a primary point of departure for the audiovisual technology that enable patrons to experience noise in a different format by visualising frequency, propogation and vibration through the structure.
